Frances (Biddy) P Burchell Rode upon a magnificent white horse, kindly loaned by Mr. C. Moriarty – Chief constable of Birmingham. 

Aged 24, from Harborne, Birmingham. A handsome blonde, 5ft 3 inches, and accomplished horsewoman. An office clerk for the Birmingham Gas Corporation.  

In the age of mechanical transport, the committee found the pool of qualified horsewomen to have decreased, compared to previous years. 

In one of the pictures in the gallery, Frances meets Vera Guedes who played Lady Godiva in 1902.
